MinuteBox Adds Another Dimension to Online Social Interaction

Minutebox, a new UK based start-up, says that we should leverage our online reputation and even profit from it.

LONDON, ENGLAND, July 14, 2011 /Internet PR News/ -- During January 2011, social networks accounted for 12.4% of all UK Internet visits, according to figures compiled by Experian Hitwise.

"Across the 9,000 social networks that we monitor, there were over 2.4 billion visits from UK Internet users during the month - more than in any other month on record," says the company.

We have spent all our time tweeting on Twitter, blogging, and engaging with other Internet users. Over time, we create a kind of digital footprint across all of these sites; we have created an online presence for ourselves, and a valuable online reputation. Minutebox, a new UK based start-up, says that we should leverage our online reputation and even profit from it.

Founder Mr. Josh Liu says: "MinuteBox enables people to buy and sell expertise online in small units of time via multi-media chat. We believe that you should leverage your online reputation and, instead of wasting your spare time, sell it to your online audience. We're making expert advice social".

But we have so many forums and Q&A websites out there. Will Internet users choose those free resources over paid live expert advice?

Liu responds: "We think those free online resources are great for general problems. However, when we have specific or complicated problems, we often struggle to get the solutions we need from those online resources. That is where MinuteBox can help. Minutebox actually complements those online services"

Softly launched by the end of April, MinuteBox is focusing on amateur bloggers and independent consultants. Their powerful widget, MinuteBox Direct, enables bloggers to showcase their online credentials and then sell their time to their readers, converting them into paying clients.

Liu says: "At this stage, we would like to find experts with an audience already. We believe it is always easier to sell your advice to the people who know you have expertise, and trust you. We have developed a comprehensive multi-media chat application, integrated with Paypal's latest technology, to facilitate knowledge sharing and making it easier to interact with clients".

He continues "We also use our own semantic technology to smartly index experts in different areas from across the social web. Later on, we can then intelligently direct clients to experts with the relevant expertise. This means people can search for experts on the MinuteBox website, easily matching their problems to experts who can help them."

In the current economic climate, individuals and businesses are much more cost savvy; they want to get cheaper alternatives for the services they need. The popularity of freelancing websites is a clear signal of the trend. Now, MinuteBox takes it a step further, facilitating transactions via multi-media chat. By leveraging the power of social web, MinuteBox can potentially be a powerful solution and add another dimension to social interaction.
